Taichung Int'l Cycle Show in December?
TAIPEI, Taiwan - During the last hours of this year’s Taipei Int’l Cycle Show strong rumours were going around on a Taichung Int’l Cycle Show to take place in December. It was said that organizers of the various hotel shows that took place last December in Taichung like Ride-On, Taichung Bike Week and others, have joined forces and started discussions with the Taichung local government as well as a Taichung exhibition company for the set up of the Taichung Int’l Cycle Show which is to take beginning December 2008.
The show is to take place on a new industrial area in Taichung which is located near the old CCK militairy air base. It goes without saying that the set up of the Taichung event has to do with the announced dates of the 2009 Taipei Cycle Show which are March 17 – 20, 2009.
These dates met with lots of criticism from component makers; in particular the ones from Europe and the US who are primarily focused on OE business. Their main criticism on this and next year’s dates of the Taipei Int’l Cycle Show is that they are not inline with the current spec cycle of the international operating bike brands.
This year’s late dates of the Taipei Show caused that product managers and buyers from companies like Cycleurope, Decathlon, Gazelle, Scott and others were not at the show to the dismay of these component makers.
