Big Success for 1st Taipei Show in Nangang Venue

TAIPEI, Taiwan – The first Taipei Int’l Cycle Show in the new exhibition hall didn’t go without some minor flaws like an air-conditioning system that was working a bit too well. But overall, the premier of the show that after twenty years taking place in the old TWTC, which for its 21st edition moved to the new Nangang Exhibition hall, worked out fine.

The expected traffic chaos didn’t happen and all the systems worked. Show organizers TAITRA and the Taiwan Bicycle Exporters’ Association can look back on a successfull show that of course broke all previous records.

Exhibition space expanded with 24% over that of 2007. 80,000 visitors were counted. But the fact that each time one passed one of the entrances of the show, the visitors’ card was scanned makes one wonder how that number was calculated. Also the fact that lots of consumers entered the show on Saturday and Sunday met with criticism because such visitors do not mix with the concept of an industry show as Taipei Cycle is.

Product managers, buyers, distributors and other industry members are the ones that are needed on a show like Taipei Cycle. And according to the show organizers they came in big numbers; bigger than during last year’s event. Even 20% more with the total number of buyers reaching 4,700.

Despite that number, not every exhibitor of this year’s Taipei Show was satisfied. Even to such an extent that there’s talk of organizing a show that is to compete with Taipei Cycle; see the rumour on the Taichung Int’l Cycle Show on this website.
