CHICAGO, US – What was expected didn’t happen; SRAM did not reveal its big secret called Hammerschmidt. It was at the Taipei Show, but only to be introduced to product managers, buyers and other OEM relations. SRAM still want to keep the lit on what is said to be a system that replaces the double front derailleur.
What was said by SRAM on what it calls ‘a revolution in transmission technology’ is that it will reveal more and more details on Truvativ Hammerschmidt through a special website: www.magicmechanics.com Truvativ Hammerschmidt is targeted to ModelYear 2009 bikes and will be launched coming fall.
No price increase
Apart from new components, everything else was business as usual at SRAM. According to CEO Stan Day there are no imminent price increases and even for lead times it’s ‘business as usual’ which is 30 days. His opinion on the wide spread price increases are that it is something as a blessing in the sky as: “It is stopping the price inflation trend that was going on for years. Now in particular in the MTB and Road race sectors specs are being upgraded.”
