TAIPEI, Taiwan – During last month’s Taipei Int’l Cycle Show, Bike Europe’s editor in chief Jack Oortwijn was invited to address the members of the A-Team at their annual meeting. The A-Team is the organisation in which Taiwan bike and components makers together with supporting members from the US and Europe cooperate.
Here Jack Oortwijn presented his views on the trend that will have a huge impact on the bike business in the coming years. That trend is City Rental Bikes which started with Vélib in Paris and is spreading out over the world.
“I am convinced that the popularity of the Vélib rental bikes in Paris will have a huge effect on the sales for bicycles around the world. As a matter of fact I strongly believe that it will turn the bike business around.” These were just two of his conclusions.
