Success for French Formula Mondovelo
PARIS, France – The French Mondovélo shop formula, which is part of the Sport 2000 retail organization, is doing well in France. After its start at the end of 2006 with 10 outlets of which eight ex-Veloland bikeshops, it ended 2007 with 12 stores and five corners in Sport 2000 shops. For 2008 Sport 2000 France plans to add 10 more Mondovélo outlets and is aiming at 50 shops in 2010.
The member-retailers of Sport 2000 France saw their revenues increase to € 580 million; up 5.5% from the 2006 result. Thirty new stores were opened in 2007 and four were expanded. On a comparable store basis, sales climbed by 17% while the sporting goods market in France only grew with 2% in 2007.
