VEENENDAAL, The Netherlands - Peter van Vlijmen (51) will take over the management of Axa Stenman from Cees Oosterhoorn from November 1, 2008. On that date Peter van Vlijmen will become Managing Director of Axa Stenman Holland as well as CEO of the holding company, Axa Stenman Group.
Cees Oosterhoorn (60), who was MD and CEO since 2001, is retiring. He will remain in touch with the company as a shareholder and as a member of the Supervisory Board.
Peter van Vlijmen is new to the bike business. He formerly worked for aircraft company Fokker, the logistics company NedLloyd and Helvoet, a component maker that resembles Axa Stenman. He started there as MD in 1996 and internationalized the company while he also managed to shift the business from single component manufacturing to sub-assemblies. As a result, Helvoet grew from a single operating base with 250 employees into a company operating in seven countries (including India and China) and a staff of over 1,000 people.
