Who Owns Accell Group after Burke Buy-Out?

HEERENVEEN, The Netherlands – The 8.62% share in the (money wise) biggest bike maker in Europe, Dutch Accell Group NV that was owned by the Burke family, has been replaced. The family that also owns the Trek Bicycle Corp. announced beginning of June that they wanted to sell their 818,681 Accell shares.

After taking over the biggest part of that 8.62% stake, the number one shareholder in Accell is now a UK based insurance company called Aviva. Before the Burke buy-out this company already owned 8.2% of Accell Group.

By taking over the biggest part of the shares of the Burke family, Aviva turned into the biggest shareholder by far of the Accell Group and currently owns 13% of all shares. The insurance company which is listed on the UK stock exchange is the holding company of various other insurance companies throughout Europe. Aviva’s current stock value stands at about 25 billion euro.

Accell’s number two shareholder is a private investor called Frederic Van Beuningen through his investment fund Darlin. He owns 7.4% of the company. About the same stake in the holding company of several bike companies in Europe and the US, is owned by a Dutch investment fund called ‘Delta Deelnemingen Fonds’ while another private investor called R.J.H. Kruisenga is the fourth biggest owner with a 7% share holding. Fortis bank closes the top 5 ranking with a 5.7% share of the currently total number of 9,778,172 outstanding Accell Group NV shares.
