Karl Lagerfeld Promotes Bicycle Safety
PARIS, France – Fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld has contributed to the new French road-safety campaign. Wearing his normal attire of a black suit, dark sunglasses, and fingerless gloves, Lagerfeld dons a fluorescent reflective safety vest in the ads in an effort to encourage “bicycle riders to equip themselves with security vests and triangles”
The tag line of the French campaign is: “It’s yellow, it’s ugly, it doesn’t go with anything, but it could save your life.” As of September 1st of this year each biker in France has to wear a fluorescent reflective safety vest when riding in the dark.
France is the first country in Europe that compels cyclists to wear these vests. It is unknown if and when other European countries will follow this obligation.
