TAITRA 'Sets Record Straight' on Taichung Show
TAIPEI, Taiwan – In Bike Europe’s Newsletter dated June 17, we reported on the initiatives of organizing a Taichung Int’l Cycle Show in 2009 as a result of the many mini trade shows organized by individual companies in December in Taichung, Taiwan. We headlined our report: “Taichung Bike Show Taking over from Taipei?” According to the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), organizer of the Taipei Int’l Cycle Show, our report has caused lots of confusion throughout the industry.
In a first reaction TAITRA stated: “The confusion, caused by the headline of the article, implies that the Taichung Bike Show will ‘take over’ Taipei Cycle. As a result we have been receiving enquiries from around the world asking if we are moving the show to Taichung. Many felt it odd, since many major bike industries and associations have never heard of the Taichung Int’l Cycle Show in 2009.”
Taipei Cycle is the largest and only bike trade show
“As you know from your visit to Taipei,” continues TAITRA: “Taipei Cycle is the largest and only bike trade show in Taiwan and there’s no indication that the Taichung Bike Show will come anywhere close to even being a credible event.”
In an additional reaction TAITRA says that Taipei Cycle 2009 is to be the best show yet. The show organizer claims: “Taipei Cycle highlighted the success and dynamism of the cycling industry with the unprecedented success of its 2008 show that unfolded across a bright new Nangang venue. Once again, the Taipei event underscored its prowess in providing a premier sourcing platform for quality bikes, components and accessories.”
“Asia’s top cycle event is now warming up for Taipei Cycle 2009 coming next March 17 to March 20 that will host more than 2,800 booths to cover every facet of the industry. It builds upon the amazing success at the 2008 show that welcomed 761 leading exhibitors (a 24% rise over the previous show) who used 2,840 booths (a massive 24% leap over the last show) to exhibit to 53,000 visitors.”
Greater numbers of exhibitors
“With all systems ‘GO’, Taiwan’s largest expo hall is expected to bring in even greater numbers of exhibitors, and select buyers from every facet and sector of the trade. Without doubt Taipei Cycle 2009 will be the place to be to source the best. And that’s just the beginning since the NANGANG complex is soon getting one more additional hall that will push its capacity to more than 5,000 booths. Join the winning team in cycling at Taipei Cycle 2009!”
