BREST, France – Last Saturday at the start of the Tour de France the new professional cycling team Columbia presented itself. Team High Road formed the basis for this new team that itself came from the German T-Mobile team.

Columbia Sportswear has signed a sponsor deal that runs through 2010 with the international cycling team based in California. Team Columbia has a total of 42 male and female cyclists from 17 different nationalities. It is named as the most international one in the world, and its women’s section has the highest ranking worldwide. At least 15 riders from Team Columbia will represent their respective countries at the Beijing Olympics.

Team Columbia is riding Giant bikes and is of course using Columbia Sportswear outfits made by MOA Sport from Italy that also provides the cycling wear for the La Française des Jeux en Barlo World teams. The first replica’s of the Team Columbia outfits are already on sale in the Benelux countries where they are distributed by Jacobsons BV from Holland.
