(UPDATE) Another Italian Company in Liquidation

CASTELPLANIO, Italy – Last month Bike Europe reported on the fact that the Italian bike industry was about to loose another A-brand and that handlebar, stem, seatpost and fork manufacturer Italmanubri had gone into a voluntary liquidation. Fortunately, it looks as this company will find a new owner.

However, the latest news is that again an Italian company – a bike maker this time - is in trouble. The financial difficulties are so deep that FIB - Fabbrica Italiana Biciclette SpA is in a voluntary liquidation.

“The fierce competition in Italy has put a lot of pressure on the price of our NSR and Nuzzi bikes” says owner Matteo Nuzzi of FIB. “We could no longer run a healthy business and the export only was not profitable enough to continue our production. We have decided to cease the production as of now and to start looking for a production partner.”

“As a result of this decision 40 jobs will be lost, while some 12 people will continue in our office, R&D and in the production of a small number of high end racing bikes.” The voluntary liquidation of FIB - Fabbrica Italiana Biciclette SpA is handled by the founder of the company: Matteo Nuzzi.

FIB was started in 1997 by Matteo Nuzzi. It’s a small scale bike maker that despite its size offers a full line of bikes. On its website - www.nuzzisportracing.com – the company shows a range that includes roadrace, MTB, Trekking, City Kids and Freeride bikes. According to Matteo Nuzzi, the bikes are sold in Italy via 300 dealers.
