ETRA Event At Mobility Week Cancelled

GENT, Belgium - One of the co-owners of the esplanade of the European Parliament has thwarted plans for a bicycle industry event during Mobility Week. ETRA had organized a show of electric bikes, electric PTWs, components and accessories for Tuesday 16 September. “As a result, we were left with no other option than to cancel the planned show”, said Annick Roetynck of ETRA.

The show was going to be the start and finish point for a bike ride through Brussels, organized by the European Green Party. They have decided to call off their event as well.

The esplanade is the only parliamentary location suitable for a professional event that is aimed at getting attendants to try out the products presented. Therefore, both ETRA and the European Greens have concluded that it was better not to push on with the Mobility Week events. By next year, the esplanade should be sold to the Brussels’ region, who will undoubtedly be more lenient in granting permission for the use of the location.
 
ETRA regrets having to take this decision and apologizes to all the companies that had already promised their participation. At a meeting in October, the ETRA Committee will decide on next year's promotional events. As a result, there will be new opportunities to make European decision-makers aware of the state of the art in the field of two-wheelers and of what emission-free two-wheelers can do for their policy goals.
