Swiss Flyer Preparing for e-Bike Boom
KIRCHBERG, Switzerland – What started with a production of only 850 Flyer e-Bikes in 2002 has turned into a real business that this year will deliver over 10,000 electric bicycles to its dealers and distributors. And for the years to come BikeTec AG, producer of the Flyers, intends not to stop at this number, but to profit from the e-Bike boom in Europe.
For that the company is building a new HQ and production facility in Huttwil, Emmental, Switzerland. Here a 8,000 m² factory including offices and showrooms is under construction which relates up to an investment of CHF 10 million (€ 6.3 mn).
BikeTec AG expects to move to the new facility in the summer of 2009. About 90 people will be employed there. With the new factory BikeTec quadruples its production capacity which, as the e-Bike specialist states, will for the long term secure the company’s growth potential.
