MUNICH, Germany - On 11 October Munich-based IBD Alpha Bikes celebrated the official opening of its Specalized Concept Store in the Bavarian metropolis. For Specialized this is the third concept store in Germany.

According to Alpha Bikes GM’s Gerhard Wagner and Daniel Ciasto they have been in close contact with Specialized for about one and a half year: “We are Specialized dealer for ten years and were searching for a good location for a concept store. We wanted to have this store in the south of Munich because our store Alpha Bikes is based in the north.”

“Furthermore we wanted it close to the Isar river because there are some good mtb trails. Last but not least we wanted it close to the city’s medium ring road so the shop is easy to reach.” The Alpha Bikes Specialized Concept Store, this is the full name of the new 300 square meter shop, is located in the Obersendling district.

Specialized world at its best

The new concept store is presenting the entire Specialized world at its best. Wagner says that the focus is on road and mountain bikes but they also have the company’s young mobility brand Globe available. Furthermore the well designed store offers a wide range of parts and accessories.

On the official store opening Richard „Richie“ Thomas, marketing manager Central Europe at the German based marketing division of Specialized-Europe, thanked the Alpha Bikes team and said: “For us it is very important to have a concept store in Germany’s sports capital, home of sporting goods giants such as Sport Scheck and Sport Schuster.”

He and the Alpha team also thanked Kilian Eller, as retail project manager responsible for Specialized-Europe’s concept store opening and realization: “Both Alpha Bikes team and Eller have done a fantastic job. The last weeks have been tough but they made it. This store is awesome!”

Kilian Eller made clear that a Specialzed concept store is no franchise store: “Specialized concept stores belong 100 percent to the dealer. We are supplier. We supply the dealer with the setup such as displays etc. and support them with all what we can. Therefore the concept store is offering nothing but our Specialized world. It’s a real and fair partnership. That’s all.”
