CHICAGO, US - SRAM has issued a recall of the RockShox Domain forks. It appeared that the steer steel tube models have to potential to fail. Therefore SRAM has retrieved these RockShox Domain forks from the market and called consumers to stop riding these forks immediately.

The recall concerns the RockShox Domain 302 and 318 models with steel steer tubes. The related forks have the production codes 09T8XXXXXXX to 42T8XXXXXXX. This production code is located on the fork crown.

In case of doubt it is very easy to check if fork does have steer tube. The steer tube material is visible under the centre of the crown. A magnet placed on the inside of the steer tube can be used to identify the material of the tube. Forks produced with aluminium steer tubes are not affected by this recall.

SRAM has called consumers with these forks to return the fork to their dealer for verification of steer tube material and serial number. Forks with steel steer tubes within the concerned date range will be replaced with a similar model fork by the dealer. SRAM dealers should contact their regional distributor or SRAM DSD (Germany, Austria and Switzerland only) to obtain a return number for a replacement fork.
