German Sport Scheck Starts Expansion Program

UNTERHACHING, Germany – Germany’s largest sporting goods mail order and online retailer Sport Scheck has announced a major expansion program. This plan involves the addition of “up to ten Sport Scheck stores in Germany” on top of the current 14 outlets as well as the expansion into some neighbouring countries.

At the end of November Sport Scheck entered the Benelux market by opening a local online store. Next March a Russian internet portal will be launched and on the mid-term some Russian bricks-and-mortar stores are in the pipeline.

Private bicycle label

Based near Munich, Sport Scheck is involved in the sale of bicycle product. The company offers among them its own private bicycle label called Bikepuls.

“Currently we are looking for local partners that are offering real estate consultancy or franchise concepts,” says Jürgen Habermann, GM for Sport Scheck’s mail order, internet and retail business.

Part of this extensive plan was the announcement of a special project team lead by sales manager Marcus Leber. He has been working at Sport Scheck for five years. Together with Erik Walter and André Denk the 35-year old is coordinating both national and international expansion strategies.

With an eye on further store outlets in Germany, the sporting goods giant says that “stores in the cities of Berlin, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Münster, Freiburg and Aachen could be most interesting for us”.
