Messe Munich Announces July Dates for New Bike Show
MUNICH, Germany - Never say never again! Bike Europe’s January edition reported on page 3 that despite ZEG’s support: ‘There won’t be a bike show in Munich – at least not in 2009.’ We were wrong.
Yesterday Messe Munich announced to organize a bike show in the Bavarian metropolis from 23 to 26 July 2009. The show is named Bike Expo. Show days will be divided in two exclusively for trade visitors (23 and 24 July) and two consumer days (25 and 26 July).
According to Messe Munich’s Tobias Gröber (manager of consumer goods shows) the focus of the new bike show will be on e-Bikes as well as the City & Trekking segments. With that the new Munich show wants to differentiate from Eurobike. But, of course race and MTB and everything in between as Freeride, All Mountain of X-Country are also welcome in Munich…
ZEG is not the organizer
Asked if ZEG is co-organizer or partner of Bike Expo Gröber says: “ZEG is not the organizer. We Messe Munich are setting up this event. But the bike dealer cooperative supports us.” That support is reflected in the fact that ZEG chairman Georg Honkomp invited his member/dealers to a general meeting being held on 22 July in Munich.
In a press release Messe München names other ‘competent partners’ for organizing this new bike show. Looking at the listed names it becomes clear that they are organizers of events like the Symaptex bike festivals in Riva del Garda, Italy and Willingen, Germany as well as the Mountainbike races Transalp and Trans Germany.
