Taipei Cycle 09: Timing Talk Stopped, More Visitors

TAIPEI, Taiwan – Yes, one may call the Taipei Cycle Show 2009 a success. Despite the financial tsunami and despite the late timing of the show, most exhibitors were satisfied with their business at the show.

With that it looks like that everybody more or less accepts now that Taipei Cycle has changed into a show for P&A manufacturers and distributors. For aftermarket and trading business mid March seems the appropriate period.

Taipei Cycle 2009 closed its doors last Friday afternoon. At the a press conference held one hour before the official closing of the show which took place from March 17 – 20, officials from organizer TAITRA said: “Once again Taipei Cycle proved itself as the most valuable platform for doing business in the bike world. During the first three days of the show, 4,562 overseas visitors came to the Nangang venue as well as about 22,000 domestic visitors. The visitor number is up 3% compared to last year. The increase comes in particular from business men from China who visited the show.”

That visitors from mainland China came to Taipei Cycle 2009 was maybe the most remarkable happening at this year’s show as this has not happened before in its 22 year’s history. It reflects the ongoing changes in the relationship between the two countries. One thing is already clear and that is that participation from companies from mainland China will have a major impact on the show.
 
With dozens and dozens of Chinese companies anxiously wanting to participate as an exhibitor at Taipei Cycle 2010, the organizers announced at the post show press conference that next year an extra hall will house these exhibitors. This extra hall will be created at one of the parking lots of the Nangang venue while there’s also talk on using one of the ‘old’ TWTC halls.

The Taipei International Cycle Show 2010 will take place on exactly the same dates as this year. It will open its doors on Wednesday March 17 and closes Saturday March 20 at 17:00 hours.
