Will public bike hire schemes become popular in China too as they are now in Europe? It’s something Chinese Forever is seriously considering as it is the world’s first bike maker to launch a complete system that next to the bikes includes the hire stations as well as the software that goes with it.
At last week’s Shanghai Show not only at Forever’s booth a complete bike hire station was displayed; also the exhibition grounds had 4 complete stations which proved to be very useful to get from one end to another on the fast Shanghai new international expo center.
Forever’s public bike hire scheme operates on a creditcard basis. In order to hire a bike and to unlock it from its holder at the station one has to have the have its creditcard read by the system. Whether there are already Chinese cities interested in Forever’s system is unknown as there was no English speaking staff at the booth in Shanghai.
