FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany – The German bike industry association ‘Zweirad Industrie Verband’ ZIV has recently signed an agreement with Messe Friedrichshafen in which it is stipulated that it will exclusively support the Friedrichshafen Eurobike Show. The agreement runs for a period of five years.

After the IFMA in Cologne, which was supported by the ZIV, stopped, the German industry association is now ‘exclusively and fully supporting’ the international bicycle trade show Eurobike organized in Friedrichshafen by Messe Friendrichshafen.

In a press release on the agreement it is said that: “The basis for this cooperation is that ZIV will not promote or support any other trade show venue or exhibition organizer.” The fact that this term is part of the agreement is of course related to the new Bike Expo show that this year is organized for the first time from July 23 - 26. This show is, after the downfall of IFMA, initiated by Europe’s biggest dealer cooperative ZEG.

The press release also says: “The two partners, ZIV, represented by MD Rolf Lemberg, and Messe Friedrichshafen, led by CEO Klaus Wellmann, have now agreed to this arrangement that covers the next five years during which the two parties shall work together closely in a spirit of trust and cooperation.”

ZIV MD Lemberg says about the agreement: “The German bicycle and bicycle component industry is convinced that Eurobike is the ideal platform for all market players.” At a meeting the ZIV members unanimously voted in favour of  Eurobike.

“We offer the industry, retailers and the media a functioning benchmark. The timing of Eurobike, early September, is the ideal moment for placing orders for the entire industry. The spectrum of the bicycle trade show, with an international range of bicycles, components and accessories for sports and mobility, is unequaled in terms of its comprehensive range of products and models,” says Messe Friedrichshafen CEO Klaus Wellmann.

He added that thanks to this clear ZIV vote in favour of Friedrichshafen, the German bicycle industry can now also focus on one big bicycle trade show per year.
