MUNICH, Germany – In about three weeks a new bike show will open its doors; Bike Expo in Munich, Germany. This event that was initiated by Europe’s biggest dealer cooperative, ZEG after the demise of IFMA, will take place from July 23rd to 26th, 2009, at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre.

Bike Expo will above all promote urban mobility as most major European cities suffer from ever-increasing traffic congestion; and are working on solutions involving alternative methods of transportation.

Munich, Paris, Barcelona and London are amongst the forerunners and have adopted measures which include a bike-friendly infrastructure in combination with low-cost bike rental offers.

Munich Trade Fair has adopted the concept of the bicycle as the symbol for the 21st century urban transportation. Above all bicycles are an intrinsic part of the ‘green’ environmental trend. Cycling requires athletic effort and the benefits to health and well-being are also a significant attraction.

In cooperation with Extra Energy the Munich show presents its primary topic; E-Bikes. The ExtraEnergy test track is one of the major attractions of this event where interested visitors can test e-Bikes on an indoor as well as outdoor track.

More spectacular will be Danny MacAskil’s bike footage. This 23-year-old Scottish trial biker was almost unknown before last April until the launch of a video clip on YouTube created a sensation. To date more than six million internet users have watched his spectacular bike footage. He merges the mountain bike disciplines of Street and Trial, with high-tech trick elements usually only seen in the dirt jump sector.

Bike Expo will open its doors from July 23 - 26, 2009, at the New Munich Trade Fair Center.
