US ACT Lab. Establishes Operations in China
EL SEGUNDO, USA - ACT Lab LLC, a professional independent third-party testing group providing product evaluation, safety compliance testing and research for the helmet and bicycle industries is now an official ISO/IEC 17025 Accredited Testing Laboratory — the international standard which specifies competency requirements to carry out tests, calibrations and sampling.
ACT operates laboratories in El Segundo, California and a soon-to-open location in Taicang, China.
ACT was launched last year as a spin-off from the well established forensics engineering and consulting firm Collision and Injury Dynamics who has been working with many of the bicycle industry’s top suppliers for years.
ACT provides mechanical and chemical testing services within CPSC, US DOT-NHTSA FMVSS 218, ASTM, SFI, ISO, CEN, Australian, Japanese and American National standards, performs lead paint and substrate testing via atomic spectroscopy (ICP-AES) and X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF), load testing, high-speed camera, design review, and provides specialized testing, reporting and data acquisition services.
Heading up the establishment of ACT’s new operations in Taicang, China located in close proximity to Shanghai is Matthew Pfeffer. He comes to ACT with many years of product testing and compliance experience, most recently from a 10 year assignment as Trek Bicycles global quality testing manager. While residing in Taichung for three years, Matt’s main responsibility was to oversee product testing and facility operations of Trek Taiwan.
