TAICHUNG, Taiwan – Started as an informal meeting of OEM product managers with WTB and SRAM at the Landis Hotel in Taichung more than ten years ago, the Taichung Bike Week (TBW) has developed into an important end-of-the-year industry gathering.

The 2009 edition will be the first one when TBW will offer exhibitors a refined presentation and sales platform. Taichung Bike Week (TBW) was formalized through the efforts of two volunteers, Steve Fenton (ProLite) and Katerina Rejchrtova (WTB), with considerable support from the Taichung City Government and the City Mayor, Mr. Jason Hu and his assistant, Ms. Anna Wang.

The Taichung City government has increased its support for the event with shuttle busses between the participating hotels (Freshfields, Tempus (former Landis) and Splendor) and with visitor and exhibitor information services at each of the participating hotels. The TBW dinner will be hosted courtesy of Mayor Hu. The international networking event is free to TBW participants.

TBWs strength is that you can not compare it a trade fair like Taipei, Eurobike or Interbike. It has grown in status and importance to an internationally recognized industry meeting place, scheduled at a critical time for OEM product managers to review and finalize specification decisions. This is the global hotspot for OEM product managers and bike brands to see developments in bicycle component supplier’s lines, and to develop and finalize specifications.

Despite major setbacks with the set-up of a website; it is now up and running (but not yet filled completely). www.taichung-bike-week.com shows TBW as an umbrella of all the mini shows taking place to make it easy for product managers to come to Taichung and know who is where and when.
