ENNEPETAL, Germany - The successful BB30 bottom bracket concept is seeing a widespread use on mainly higher priced MTBs. The advantages of the oversized concept are a longer service life, an improved stiffness and enhanced cycling comfort.
Thun’s new JIVE-ML 2.0 D42 affordable bottom bracket will open up the mass market for this now proven technology. Until now the lack of low-cost components has kept BB30 from this market segment.
Thun’s JIVE-ML 2.0 D42 (BB30) allows OEMs to equip the important model type of affordable MTBs with inner bearings that are compatible with BB30. According to Thun, this development does not, by any means, constitute an attempt to substitute the high priced components for expensive MTBs. These bikes will continue to be equipped with the high priced components, optionally and functionally from a single cast.
The tried and trusted concept of keeping it simple is used to press JIVE-ML 2.0 D42 into the BB30 frame using polyamide press adapters with a 42 mm diameter. One particular benefit is that all common sprocket fittings with steel or aluminium cranks can be fitted on the square shafts.
