HEERENVEEN, Netherlands (25 July 2000) -- The Dutch brand Sparta, acquired by Accell Group late last year, will move to a new site in Apeldoorn in mid-2001. The new premises will cover 7,000 square meters, considerably smaller than its current factory which, according to the company, is too large and inefficient for Sparta's new style as a provider of mobility solutions, particularly in the form of electric and folding bicycles. "The integration and turn-around of Sparta have progressed well since the acquisition and have been virtually completed," states a recent press release. "Sparta is, as expected, already contributing to the earnings per share of Accell Group." In addition to electric and folding bikes, Sparta products traditional Sparta bicycles and private label bikes. The company currently has 100 employees. (JW)
