FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany – A remarkable move is made by the European market leader in e-Bikes and has all to do with the price erosion now taking place in the market for electric bikes.
Sparta is entering the entry-level in e-Bikes with a model called e-Motion C2. Priced (retail) at € 1,499 the Sparta e-Motion comes with a rear carrier integrated, detachable lithium-ion battery and a Sanyo front hubmotor.
Sparta CEO Huub Snellen stipulated that despite the lower price this Sparta remains a high quality electric bike which meets Sparta’s standards in every respect.
Also new in the 2010 e-Bike line-up of Sparta is the ION RX. In particular remarkable about this ION bike is in the fact that the battery is not integrated in the downtube which up till now was the distinctive feature of the Sparta ION’s. The ION RX is equipped with a detachable battery that is integrated in the rear carrier. The battery is a NiMH one but is soon to be replaced by one in lithium-ion. The ION RX retails for € 1,999.
