FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany – “Currently only 18% of the world population sometimes uses a bicycle. This means that there is a huge potential number of customers out there of 82% of the world population. They present the bright future for the bike industry.” This was said by Tony Lo (photo) CEO of the world’s biggest bike maker Giant.

Tony Lo presented his comments at the yesterday’s Taiwan Products Launch at Eurobike. He linked his statement on cycling by the world population with the current advocacy activities all around the world to increase cycling. Such activities have, according to Tony Lo, stimulated the Taiwan people (Giant’s home base) to turn the country into a cycling island.

Tony Lo also made some interesting remarks on the current crisis and the worldwide bike market. He said: Today we see some spring arriving in the financial crisis. In Asia things are turning for the better while the same goes for Europe. We at Giant think that 2010 will again be a perfect year for bikes.”
