TAICHUNG, Taiwan – Ming Cycle in Taiwan is preparing for the worldwide boom in e-Bikes with the construction of a new assembly hall next to its existing factory in Taichung, Taiwan. According to Ming Cycle CEO Albert Chen (photo) the new hall will be exclusively used for the production of high end e-Bikes. “For quality reasons we start this production in Taiwan; as we do with every new Ming Cycle product.”

At this year’s trade shows Ming Cycle launched its Helios and Selene e-Bikes that are equipped with Sanyo motor, controller, torque sensor and lithium-ion battery. Albert Chen expects that once the new assembly hall is up and running which is planned for March 2010, the production total for next year will run up to 10,000 units. By the way, the first shipments to Europe of Helios and Selene e-Bikes have already left the (old) factory in Taichung.

Ming Cycle’s Helios and Selene e-Bikes are focused on OEM customers which the Taiwan based company is handling itself. As far as changes in specifications goes; as the Helios and Selene e-Bikes have passed EPAC tests Ming Cycle prefers not to make big changes here. As both models are targeted to retail for about 2,000 euro they come with high quality components like Schwalbe tyres, Shimano Nexus 7 or 8 speed, magnesium suspension fork, alu wheels and Busch & Muller lights.
