BRNO, Czech Republic - Bike Brno, which took place last November 5 – 8, has affirmed its leading position as the bike industry show for Eastern Europe. About one third of the 200 exhibitors were from abroad, representing 16 countries, including a Taiwan Bicycle Exporters’ Association (TBEA) pavilion.

This year the cycling fair formed the largest section of the show in Brno, which also includes the shows Sport Life, Boat Brno and the Caravanning Brno. Some 60,000 people, including 2,200 foreigners visited this four day event. Of course not all of them came for Bike Brno although nearly half the show floor was dedicated to bicycles.

More than before city bikes and e-Bikes played a prominent role at Bike Brno. The organization had even laid out the largest indoor e-Bike test track in Europe. Visitors could test different 35 models made by 22 producers.

Bike Brno donates € 3,000 to ETRA

At the opening ceremony of Bike Brno, show manager Jan Kubena handed over a € 3,000 cheque to ETRA Secretary General Annick Roetynck. “We strongly appreciate ETRA’s lobby work for cycling at EU level and ETRA’s efforts to establish contacts and develop relationships in the new member states”, said Jan Kubena.

Annick Roetynck assured him that “ETRA would make good use of the funding. Two of our main lobby issues for the coming year are road safety and urban transport. Furthermore, we are looking into ways of grouping bicycle retailers in Eastern Europe. In that framework, I had promising contacts in Brno with representatives from Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Austria.”
