Gazelle & Orbea Form e-Bike Alliance

MALLABIA, Spain - The Basque company Orbea is entering the e-bike market by presenting its first model. This ‘urban mobility solution’ has been developed in alliance with Dutch city-bike specialist Gazelle.

In the past years Orbea has entered into several alliances successfully with leading brand names like Sony, Skoda, Orca and Oki. As part of this strategy Orbea has now formed an alliance with Gazelle to enter the e-Bike market. In the past years Gazelle has obtained a lot of knowledge on e-Bikes with their Innergy models. This know-how is now shared with Orbea for the South-European markets.

“Our strategy is to establish partnerships with manufacturers, not only Orbea, as long as it is profitable for both partners”, says Gazelle in a reaction. “In this case both companies will focus on the market for e-Bikes. Perhaps there are more options open for cooperation in the future, but that’s not an issue right now.”

Orbea’s first e-Bike is called Eline and is based on the Gazelle Orange Innergy, but has its own Orbea styling. The Orbea Eline is presented as an urban solution: “In line with the latest design trends, making it an environmental friendly, sophisticated means of transport.”

The Orbea Eline will be produced by Gazelle in the Netherlands, while training and distribution will be handled by Orbea. As part of the introduction program of the Eline, Orbea will provide specific training and Technical Assistance Service for its dealers.
