CAVARZERE, Italy – Following the voluntary recall of 100 bikes as published on the Bike Europe website (see: European Sales Ban of Unsafe Bikes), bicycle manufacturer Cicli Esperia Spa has issued a statement explaining the reason for this recall.

According to Paolo Guerra, Quality & Technical Design Manager of Cicli Esperia frame testing by the company’s own laboratory showed that the frame material property was insufficiently withstanding fatigue tests.

These defects were found in one allotment of aluminium frames numbered ITFSD08A00200 to ITFSD08A00300. Aware of the importance of the mentioned defects, Cicli Esperia has proceeded with a voluntary recall of the relevant bicycles.

Afterwards, Cicli Esperia has carried out some additional tests both at the TSU laboratories in Piešťany, Slovakia and its own laboratory, on frames coming from lots previous and following to the one notified, in order to check the correct fatigue behaviour.
