TAICHUNG, Taiwan – The 2011 spec’ing season has really taken off with the start of the Tiachung Bike Week at the beginning of December. It is a lot of running around between the four location for the products managers visiting the Taichung Bike Week and Ride-On this year.

“For next year we want to have this event on one location, the Splendor Hotel”, says Steve Fenton CEO of Pro-Lite together with Katerina Rejchrtova CEO of WTB Europe, the driving force behind the Taichung Bike Week.

Over 100 companies rented a meeting room the Splendor Hotel, the Tempus Hotel, the Evergreen Laurel or the Ride-On at the Freshfield Resort. Next to that many Taichung based companies were giving product presentations at their offices and tours through their factories. Quite a difference with the about 25 companies that organized their mini-shows for years under the names Ride-On, First-in-Performance, Taichung Bike Week, Taiwanathon and Surf-On.

Next to getting bigger and bigger the event is also professionalizing now the Taichung city government joined as the official sponsor. Yesterday evening at the opening speech of the dinner party Katerina Rejchrtova and Steve Fenton both stressed the importance of this cooperation for the future of the show.

One of their major partners is the city of Taichung in person of Jason Hu, Mayor and chairman of the industrial development & investment promotion committee of the city of Taichung. At the opening of the dinner part Jason Hu mentioned, like he already did on previous occasions, the importance of this event in connection with the bike industry. He even named his city “one of the most important bike hubs in the world.”
