OSAKA, Japan – Brand consultancy, Interbrand, has launched its annual report of Japan’s top brands, ranking a total of the leading thirty to date
based in the monetary value of the brands. The only newcomer in the top-30 is Shimano on the 27th position valued at US$ 555 million (€ 365 million).
In value, Shimano is positioned between other famous brand names like Epson, Casio and Mitsubishi Motors. Leading in the ratings is automaker Toyota valued at US$ 30,529 million (€ 20,085 million).
In the 2010 assessment, the total value of Japanese brands has dropped by 2 percent from 2009 figures. Brands in 2010 totalled US$ 114,563 million (€ 75,370 million) from US$ 116,941 million (€ 76,934 million) in 2009.
Interbrand’s “Best Global Brands” ranking started in 1999 and has been based on the same criteria of evaluation since.
