Opel Autos Debuts BionX-Powered e-Bike

SALMDORF, Germany – To celebrate its 111th anniversary carmaker Opel is launching a new Astra model together with a limited edition KTM bike equipped with a BionX hub. The new Astra debuted at the Vienna Auto Show in January with an integrated bike carrier which is integrated in the rear bumper. During the show it was mounted with the limited edition BionX-equipped custom KTM Opel ecoBike. Only 111 of these bicycles will be made available for sale through Opel’s European dealer base. The 111 bikes are sold with matching helmets, jerseys and gloves.

BionX has close ties with Opel. It is a Canadian made brand of EPS Inc., a division of Magna Marque International one of Opel’s main component suppliers.

BionX Intelligent Propulsion Systems provide bike riders with an innovative, intuitive system which gives them a complete range of power options to augment their own efforts with 25 to 300 percent extra power. The BionX unit is modular and can be installed on almost any standard bicycle with two battery options—rear rack or down tube. It is already the e-Bike system of choice for brands like Trek, KTM, Wheeler and Villiger.
