TAIPEI, Taiwan - Today, at the meeting of the Taiwan bike industry cluster called A-Team, the current labour crisis in China was a major topic. Here Chairman Ying-Ming Yang of the Taiwan Bicycle Exporters Association presented a speech on how Taiwan companies are to respond on the changing labour market in China.
He suggested 8 measures to counter the crisis of which the most simple one is to increase the wages of the workers. Other ways are to improve the working environment for employees as well as to enhance R&D to create more added value products. Building stronger brands, move production back to Taiwan as well as moving facilities more inland in China are also measures which are to be considered by Taiwan companies operating production facilities in China.
According to Chairman Ying-Ming Yang the fact that there’s no longer an unlimited supply of cheap labour in China will present new challenges for Taiwan companies operating in China.
