TAICHUNG, Taiwan – The dates for the 2010 Taichung Bike Week are set. However, it is still unclear if all participants will follow the dates announced by organizer Steve Fenton at Taipei Cycle. For next autumn the dates are set for November 15 – 19.
Taichung Bike Week (TBW) organizers prefer these dates as the results of the elections for the Taichung City Council as well as Taichung County, which are taking place in the 3rd week of December will not interfere with TBW 2010. Whatever the outcome of these elections, the 2010 TBW will be supported by the Taichung City government.
Two other TBW participants, First in Performance and Ride-On have not confirmed their dates for the 2010 event. “Of course we do prefer consensus of all participants on the dates for the event but we will only decide on that in the weeks before Eurobike like we always do”, said Erik Kimble, organizer of First in Performance.
The next December Taichung elections might become very important for the future of the Taichung Bike Week. The current City government is officially sponsoring the event but it is unclear if a newly elected Mayor will do the same.
