Johnny Loco Expanding Throughout Europe

AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands – After five years in the bicycle industry, Johnny Loco, originally founded as a lifestyle brand and nowadays well known for their high quality Dutch Design urban bikes, keeps on growing internationally. After working with distributors in Denmark, Spain and South Africa, new distributors have been attracted this year for South-Korea, Slovenia and Romania. And the expansion is still ongoing; the company is now aiming for France.

Over the last few months Johnny Loco extended its distribution by adding three distributors who are rolling out the brand’s strategy in their country. And with success; Alex Geelen of Svonim Slovenia: “The Slovenian bicycle market is more and more susceptible to trendy urban bikes and e-Bikes. The way the Dutch moms are transporting their kids in cargo bikes in the cities can be a hit in Slovenia. And Johnny Loco as a brand fits perfect to the minds of the fashionable Slovenian people. We are launching a joint promotion with Mentos in Slovenia which we hope will lead to consumer pull in the shops.”

For France however, Johnny Loco has started its own roll out as result of the growing demand from the French consumers and bicycle dealers. Johnny Loco founder Arnaud van der Vecht: “Although the latest figures on the French bicycle industry show a decline in the overall bicycle market, we have the benefit of operating in the mobility segment with our collection of Urban Cruisers, Cargo Cruisers and e-Bikes. The structure of the French market is changing, people are more and more aware of the benefits of cycling, not only for sports but also for mobility. In France more and more bicycle lanes are being developed, also enabling this kind of urban mobility and therefore the right time for us to step in.”

Johnny Loco works with several dealers in Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux and in the Côte d’Azur. This works fine for now, but the company is looking for a distributor who can set up a dealer network to cover the French bicycle market. The next steps from there will be Germany and the UK.

The official launch party for France will be held coming May 7th in one of Paris’ most popular night clubs, Le Sens. Besides having a special club night for the fashionable incrowd of Paris, Johnny Loco of course welcomes all potential distributors, partners and dealers.
