BUDAPEST, Hungary – Last Friday George Berkes (photo) MD of Olimpia Bicycle Ltd from Budapest, Hungary was finally able to proudly present his latest addition to the company’s range of Gepida e-Bikes. After having to postpone an earlier scheduled international presentation due to volcanic ash clouds, the new Gepida Reptila 1100 was launched as the company’s premium pedelec.
The classification ‘premium’ for this model is used by Olimpia & Gepida as the company developed its own e-Bike components for the Reptila 1100. From the 3-phase, 36V front wheel drive hubmotor to the nice carrier mounted battery pack; designed for handling two battery packs with separate locking systems and Energy-Bus interface connection, up to the control unit; all was developed by Olimpia’s R&D department.
The Gepida 1100 comes in a Dutch and German series. Both models combine the 250 Watt pedal assistance with Shimano Nexus 8-speed. The difference between the two models is in the braking system (coaster brakes for Germany versus rollerbrake for the Dutch one that also haves a closed chain guard compared to a ‘open’ one for the German Reptila 1100.
