TAICHUNG, Taiwan – Cheng Shin Rubber, better know under its Maxxis and CST brand names, recently entered the top ten ranking of biggest tyre makers in the world. The Taiwan based manufacturer managed to leapfrog Toyo and Giti Tire into 10th place in 2009.
The ranking in sales revenues figures show that Cheng Shin Rubber recorded a turnover of 1.887 billion euro which, although only a slight increase over the previous year, shows the company’s relative resilience to the global financial crisis.
Maybe the fact that CST is one of the biggest producers in the world for bicycle tyres contributed to the fact that CST wasn’t affected by the economic turnmoil. Competitors Toyo and Giti Tire on the other hand lost sales during the period, enabling Cheng Shin to go up two steps on the ladder.
