RIEL, the Netherlands - IDbike, the inventors and manufacturers of the TMM4 torque sensor technology, which has become the benchmark for pedal-assisted e-bikes, have recently expanded their product portfolio. The demand for the Dutch made TMM4-sensor has increased steadily over the last 12 months and with that increase OEM customers have also requested for a more full service package of e-Bike components and e-Bike software.

News at IDBike is the Coaster Brake Switch (CBS) which offers a safe and instant motor cut-off when the coaster brake has been actuated through back pedalling. Also, for less ‘State-of-the-Art’ electric bicycles driven by RPM-sensors, the CBS has a real added value. RPM-driven electric bicycles mostly suffer from a sluggish and non-instant reaction. At modest cost, the patented CBS greatly improves the functionality of RPM-sensors by increasing the reaction speed for backward and forward pedalling.

This year fall IDbike will introduce a complete hardware set with IDcontroller and various options for displays. The new IDcontroller will be an absolute workhorse that’s uniquely multipurpose and versatile. With a single controller, OEMs will be able to drive many different e-Bike systems (different motors and motor signals, different battery protocols, different communication systems and different voltages). The IDcontroller can therefore drive Pedelecs, Power-On-Demand e-Bikes and light electric scooters. This controller can be programmed with dedicated software and tailor made to the customer’s requirements.

The IDcontroller comes with a line-up of 3 displays – an entry level LED-display, a high-end LCD-display and a top of the line wireless LCD-display. The official launch will occur during the fall trade shows and the products will be available before the end of the year.
