DUARTE, US – Dahon is expanding its activities. The world’s biggest in folding bikes is launching at this year’s Eurobike in Hall B4 at stand 501 not only a new brand in cycling gear, but also a new division called Ecosmo.

Dahon’s new brand of cycling gear dedicated to the needs of urban cyclists is called BioLogic. It encompasses a wide range of products designed to enhance safety, comfort, and convenience for all urban cyclists.

“A lot of us here at Dahon ride to work and most of the people who ride live in urban areas like Austin/Texas or Taipei/Taiwan or Turku/Finland” stated Joshua Hon, Dahon vice president. “Urban cycling, with pretty extreme weather and traffic variability, presents some pretty unique challenges when it comes to pollution, safety, and comfort. Over the last few years, we’ve come up with a lot of innovative ideas for products to address those needs and more ideas keep popping up every time we sit down to brainstorm so we’ve decided to spin out all of these products under the independent BioLogic brand.”

The BioLogic line includes nineteen products which stand out for their innovative technology and clean design. ”But BioLogic will be about more than just cool cycling gear,” continued Hon. “We also plan to set a high bar for ourselves in environmental and social responsibility. For instance all packaging will follow environmental sustainability guidelines as championed by REI and we’ll be participating in the Eco Index pilot program to try and improve the sustainability of our products. In addition we will allocate at least 1% of each year’s profits to social and environmental causes. I'm looking forward to making that first disbursement.”

One of the most striking BioLogic products is the Bike Mount for iPhone which lets you attach your iPhone to your bike’s handlebars so you can use a GPS app to track your position, speed, and distance, while riding.

This year’s Eurobike will also see the launch of Ecosmo; a division of Dahon in Hall B4-501. Ecosmo will display a new technique for storing bikes, using a small footprint. Ideal for the city dweller who may have only a small space allocated to storing a bike. Eddie Eccleston is appointed as Ecosmo’s International sales and marketing director.
