BURGDORF, Switzerland – This fall, BKTech, one of Switzerlands two leading pedelec manufacturers, is bringing its Flyer to Germany – regardless of the fact that the European Union has yet to approve the speedy ‘Swiss class’. This year BKTech and its foreign partners plan to produce 2,000 units. This number is likely to increase as BKTech is looking to tap into the lucrative Japanese market within three years.
To realize these ambitions, the Swiss manufacturer recently named Kurt Schaer managing director. According to Schaer, a radical revamping of the Flyer’s design should drop the price by approximately 25% to a much more competitive under DEM3,000 (US$1,350;EUR1,535).
According to BKTech, after Germany the next region on their list is Benelux. (PH)
