COLOGNE, Germany- In 1999 IFMA organizer Messe Cologne reported a turnover of DEM 396 million (US$205.1mn;EUR201.9mn), thereby breaking the old record of DEM393 million (US$203.5mn;EUR200.4mn) set in 1997. Earnings before taxes is exceeds DEM 35 million (US$18.1mn;EUR17.85mn).
In 1999 Messe Cologne organized 29 international trade shows, attracting a total of 30,169 exhibitors from 120 countries and 1.17 million buyers from 170 countries. To continue growth Messe Cologne has invested DEM 110 million to expand hall 9, which will bring the fairground's total exhibition space to 286,000 square meters.
IFMA 2000 will be held from 15 to 18 September in halls 12 and 13. (JB)
