FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany (October 26) - The positions are rock solid, but there seems to be a crack wide enough for some light. It's about the money-devouring Eurobike - IFMA show dilemma. In an interview with Bike Europe Erich Reiss, who has been with Eurobike since the idea stage and recently has been appointed Executive Project Manager for Messe Friedrichshafen, announces that the show organizer at the south German border is willing to discuss an alternating show schedule with IFMA organizer, Messe Cologne. Will this offer lead to the long awaited one year, one international bicycle show in Europe? Erich Reiss (55) who has played a key role in the co-ordination of all international contacts and activities for Messe Friedrichshafen since 1984, is one of the initiators of the Eurobike. Now, as a member of the board of directors Reiss: "has full responsibility to make short and long term decisions," says Messe Friendrichshafen in a recent press release. One such a long-term decision could involve the schedule for the Eurobike Show. In an exclusive interview which is published in Bike Europe October issue, Erich Reiss makes it very clear that Messe Friedrichshafen is willing to enter into negotiations with other show organizers to establish an alternating schedule. Publication date of Bike Europe's October edition is October 26. (JO)
