BRUSSELS, Belgium (May 28)– The Council of the European Union has decided to terminate the anti-dumping regulations on the imports of bicycles from Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. Earlier, April 11, 2001 the European Bicycle Manufacturers Association (EBMA) requested an investigation on blaming these countries of continuation or recurrence of injurious dumping, while supported by preliminary evidence. Upon the EBMA request, the EU-Council carried out an advice to all exporting and importing parties concerned which were given the opportunity to react on this matter within a certain time limit. However, just a few reactions and comments were received and there were no indications that the termination would not be in the interest of the Community, according to the Council of the European Union. The EBMA officially withdrew its request for anti-dumping measures by letter on February 6, 2002. (FN)
