DIEREN, The Netherlands (February 17) - Gazelle bicycle manufacturers will step into the German market for high-end bicycles. As a first step, Gazelle took over P.J. Meer wholesale company in Kaldenkirchen. Meer has been the German Gazelle importer for nearly 50 years. Hans de Boer, now general sales manager for Gazelle in the Netherlands, will lead the new German Gazelle branch. He will develop a German network for Gazelle, and expand sales of the high-end Goldline models all over Germany.
The main product of the Dutch company, 'complete' touring models for daily use in summer and winter, with closed chaincase, mudguards, carriers, lighting and locks is quite popular in the countryside and in several cities near the Dutch-German border. In university city Münster, Gazelle is even the no. 1 bike brand.(OB)
