AMERSFOORT, Netherlands (September 8) - Last Friday the Supreme District Court of Munich granted SRAM's request for a Stay of Execution in the cassette patent case. This case is dealing with the infringement of Shimano patents on the 'HyperGlide' technology. On June 11, 2003 the Munich District Court ruled that SRAM is not respecting the intellectual property of Shimano.
The September 5, 2003 announcement of the Munich Court in which it is granting SRAM a Stay of Execution means, according to SRAM Europe's general manager Martin van Beek: "That we will be able to ship to Germany our entire cassette product range. Also our German customers will be able to purchase these products. All in all it means that during the appeal procedure, which is expected to take at least 1.5 years, business is as usual for SRAM's cassette product range." (JO)
