XXL Sport Aims To Become Biggest Sports & Outdoor Retailer in Nordic Countries

OSLO, Norway – With the opening of four more stores in Norway and two in Sweden XXL Sport has made its ambitions abundantly clear; the megastore retail chain aims at becoming the biggest in Norway, Sweden and Finland.

According to a recent report in the trade publication for the sporting goods sector; Sporting Goods Intelligence, XXL Sport is not only investing in 30,000 extra square store meters, but also in a new bonded warehouse which is 24,000 square meters.

Fierce competition in 2012
XXL Sport sells Scott, Merida and DBS bikes as well as P&A. Currently the retail chain operates 16 stores in Norway and 9 in Sweden. With the in 2012 to open new stores in both countries the competition with the other retailers active in the Nordic countries will become fierce. In Norway XXL Sport is facing a battle with Gesvig while in Sweden Intersport and Team Sportia are also active. Next to them also Decathlon and Usports recently set foot in the country’s sporting goods market.
