BH Expands e-Bike Range

VITORIA, Spain – BH’s 2011 e-Bike range, presented by the Spain bike maker in Hall A4 at stand 404, contains no less than fifteen different models, including eight city bikes, four sport models and even three road race bikes. BH uses two e-Bike systems from Panasonic; the Integrated Bottom Bracket System (IBS) and the Front Drive System (FDS).

The IBS technology optimizes distribution of the additional weight of the electrical elements by integrating the motor, control unit, and torque sensor in a compact unit located next to the pedals. With this system the motor applies the force directly on the chain simulating constant pedalling.

The FDS incorporates the motor in the hub of the front wheel and the torque sensor in the pedal area. The top model in the city range is the BH Emotion Avant equipped with front drive system, featuring a Panasonic 250W compact motor with brushless technology and a rechargeable Panasonic 26V/8Ah or 26V/10 Ah lithium-ion removable battery.

The three most striking e-Bike models in BH’s 2011 range are the Sport Road, Sport Carbon and the Sport Carbon Ultralight. With these bikes BH is trying to generate sales in an unlikely segment of the e-Bike market. For example the Sport Carbon Ultralight with IBS weighs just 14.3 kilograms. That’s what you call a light weight e-Bike! Not only in weight, but also in specifications, the Sport Carbon Ultralight is the top of the market model, featuring a Shimano Dura-Ace drivetrain, a FSA SLK carbon handlebar, and a carbon seatpost.
