Biggest Taichung Bike Week Ever Takes Off

TAICHUNG, Taiwan – Today the international bicycle industry scene gathered for the opening of the biggest and most crowded Taichung Bike Week ever. Looking back at a very slow sale season in some major European markets and with a financial and euro crisis still unsolved, expectations for this MY 2013 spec’ing and ordering event were modest. Nevertheless, the hotels in which the Taichung Bike Week takes place were crowded today.

A growing number of product managers as well as component makers are becoming more and more curious to know what’s going on in Taichung late November with all the mini shows in hotels.

According to Taichung Bike Week organizer and Pro-Lite CEO Steve Fenton, some 2,000 visitors as well as exhibitors registered at the various Taichung hotels and applied for this year’s event. Before the cooperation with the Taichung city government was started, which took place in 2008, only some 25 exhibitors took part in Taichung Bike Week; this year nearly 200 companies came to the Evergreen Hotel, the Tempus Hotel, the Splendor Hotel and the Hotel One in Taichung to present their line-ups for MY 2013 to product managers.

The Evergreen hotel, one of the key locations of this year’s gathering, even opened up a second floor with booths to house a total of 80 exhibitors. A major change this year is the relocation of the Ride-On event from the outskirts of the city to Hotel One nearby the other Taichung Bike Week hotels.
